Acting President and
Vice-President Academic
Morgan Riotte
academic.acadsa@acad.ca
Majoring in Sculpture and entering my 4th year at ACAD I’m your 2012/2013 VP Academic. While my job description confirms that I represent ACADSA on Academic Council, the Grade Appeal Committee, the Academic + Non-Academic Misconduct Committee and the ACAD Awards + Scholarship Jury I see myself as also working for a students’ association that prioritizes communication, sustainability and transparency while promoting ACAD students who are intelligent, analytical, ambitious and sought after.
As ACADSA’s VP Academic I want to ignite dialogue between all compartments of our school, provide a willingness to listen and afford educated decision-making because I believe ACAD has the potential to make magic.
I’m here to help you know more about ACADSA than I did in my 1st and 2nd year. I
didn’t realize I had Health & Dental coverage when I got my wisdom teeth out. I’d hate for you to make that same mistake.
Vice-President Student Life
Steele J. Duncan
studentlife.acadsa@acad.ca
Steele Duncan was born in a log cabin on the bottom of the ocean, there he slept for a thousand years until he was bitten by a radioactive artist. Now he roams our world on his crystal steed righting wrongs and eating cheezies. He started taking stand up comedy courses when he was ten and is now able to think he is funnier than he is. In his spare time he likes to make paper mâché goblins and wonder why he doesn’t have a girlfriend. Steele is in his third year at ACAD and will major in Sculpture, Design, or MADT depending on how he feels on any given morning. He can often be found in the cafetorium playing some mix of Dungeons and Dragons, Hacky-sack or Bananagrams.
As Vice President Student life Steele will be responsible for all the rad times and ironically fun times held outside of class hours. Events and student groups are his bread and you the students are his butter, so churn your way up to his office and tell him your ideas! His hope is to help foster new friendships and cement current ones, and if he made it easier for that one annoying guy to find you he apologizes.
Steele Duncan is here to help you have a good time, build community, and make sure college is more than just one big blurry debt hole.
Vice-President Artist Development
Teresa Tam
artistdevelopment.acadsa@acad.ca
This is Teresa Tam. Teresa is a student within the hidden confines of MADT. Her art practice includes, but not limited to: video, photography, print media and net art. She also explores the usage of video games, found footage on the internet and blogs as art form. When not making art, she researches various subject matters; from science to psychology and to hypothetical media.
During her time as VP Artist Development, Teresa will help students develop their own artistic practice by presenting opportunities from exhibitions to fostering connections internally and externally. She also wants to create a bigger sense of community within the student body, in the hopes of creating a self-sustaining system where students can help each other grow as artists.
Teresa is here to help you become more awesome than you are right now. Though no hugs, as Teresa would like to maintain her professional image. (Private hugging sessions might be considered upon request.)
Vice-President Communications
Jack Michielsen
communications.acadsa@acad.ca
As your Vice President Communications, Jack Michielsen wants to improve the communication between ACADSA and you, the student body. He will make it easier for students to submit information to be relayed to the school, and make it less painful to read through all the information that is shared. The ACADSA website will become one of the main guns in his arsenal to achieve this.
- Vice President Communications, take that away and what are you?
A snarky, broke, misanthropist artist, Jack Michielsen was born on August 7th, 1990 in a hospital room in Breda, the Netherlands. At the age of 19, he moved to Canada to pursue an education in Fine Arts at the Alberta College of Art and Design. Three years later, he ran for the position of Vice President Communications of the ACAD Student Association and won.
Jack Michielsen is here to help you communicate, he is skilled in the usage of letters, words and sentences. With these mighty tools he will help you access the ACAD community, and vice versa.
