The plan is a critical service provided by the Alberta College of Art + Design Students’ Association (ACADSA) to fill the gaps in government health care. As a full-time student at the Alberta College of Art + Design (ACAD), you are automatically covered by the ACADSA Health + Dental Plan. Part-time students are not automatically covered, but may enroll themselves during the Change-of-Coverage period by paying an additional fee.
Being enrolled as a dependant in a parent or spouse’s employee benefit plan usually requires your family member to pay additional costs. The ACADSA plan may provide better value. You can also combine it with your other plan to maximize your overall coverage – up to 100% – and eliminate out-of-pocket costs.
If you’re already covered by another extended health and dental plan, you can opt out of the ACADSA health and/or dental plan by providing proof of other equivalent health and/or dental coverage.
All enrollments and opt outs must be completed between September 1 – 20, 2011. For instructions on how to enroll or opt out please visit ihaveaplan.ca.
For more information, you can contact the member services centre from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays at 1-866-358-4433 or visit ihaveaplan.ca.

Glad to see that the Alberta College of Art and Design offers the ability to opt out of the health plan. Great for students who are still covered with their parents’ plan.
